Our Story

Every great beach tradition starts with something simple.

Ours started on the beaches of the Outer Banks with nothing more than a bucket, a few shells, and a group of friends who weren’t quite ready for the day to end.

The rules were easy. The games were quick. Nobody had to stand up, break a sweat, or stop talking. Between beach chairs, cold drinks, and the sound of the waves, it became the perfect excuse to hang out just a little longer.

Then came a Fourth of July weekend in Virginia Beach.

The shells weren’t cutting it—either there weren’t enough of them, or they were too small to play with. So two friends who met at UVA did what any resourceful beach people would do: they grabbed a bucket, found some smooth rocks instead, and kept the game going.

Turns out, rocks were even better.

That weekend, friends kept asking to play. Then they asked to teach someone else. Then they asked where they could get their own set.

That’s when we realized this little beach game deserved a life beyond our own weekends.

So we made one.

Bucket O’ Rocks isn’t about winning championships or keeping score all afternoon. It’s about slowing down. It’s about beach chairs in a circle, music playing in the background, a cooler within reach, and laughing with the people you came with.

It’s the game you play while you’re catching up with old friends. The one that keeps everyone entertained without taking over the whole day. Easy enough for anyone to learn in minutes, but fun enough that you’ll end up saying, “One more game.”

Born from beach weekends, sunshine, and a little bit of improvisation, Bucket O’ Rocks was made to travel wherever good times happen—beaches, backyards, lake houses, campsites, tailgates, and anywhere people gather.

Because sometimes the best memories don’t come from complicated plans.

Sometimes all you need is a bucket, a few rocks, and your favorite people.

Preferably with a cold drink in hand.
